the rest of the story...

It was sprinkles.

Imagine an 8 ounce jar...a FULL 8 ounce jar...of sprinkles. Now imagine a little 3 year old climbing up several shelves in the pantry to reach these sprinkles and having...some trouble.

Sprinkles EVERYwhere. Imagine a colony of Pixar-animated mice invading and leaving their droppings all over the place. Imagine them NOT just being in the pantry. Imagine them in the pantry--every single shelf and crevice--and also all over the kitchen floor. And the family room floor. And a little in the front room. The nice thing about wood floors is that they really give things that drop a running start.

Imagine the little 3 year old boy, quietly and frantically trying to "pick up" the sprinkles before Mommy can see what's happened. One by one. With his little chubby toddler hands.
I know. I couldn't even get mad at him.

this reminds me of the time Cory filled my Suburban with confetti when we were dating. I would have preferred sprinkles - I could have just licked the car clean.

This reminds me I don't have enough sprinkles in my food storage. I'm glad it wasn't 50 pounds of rice or a pail of wheat kernals!

Well at least they were easily vacuumed up and it was not something wet and smeary.

Wow, what a mess! I would have had a hard being mad, too.

go back nineteen years... I was confined to bed for the last few weeks of my last pregnancy with premature labor, wasn't due for 4 weeks... My GIANT bread rising bowl... 2 dozen eggs, 10 lbs of flour, a gallon of milk 5 lbs of sugar and 2 packages of chocolate chips... They did have to go upstairs to get the eggs and milk... and it took both of my oldest two kids to manage the mixing... The children in this story were approx 4.5 and 2.5... just the right size to turn my food storage pantry into a disaster! Still, I managed to laugh after I stopped crying... It took 3 of my good friends hours to clean up the mess...

Now it is the family legend! "Remember when....?"

It's so sweet when they try so hard to make things better. Was he able to get ALL the sprinkles? Did he manage to eat any of them?
